Icebreaker Merino Siren Thong Underwear

Icebreaker Merino Siren Thong Underwear

These are the best underwear I ever wore during hiking and my travels. I just love them. Though they don’t have many good choices in colors or designs, they were just perfect in every other way and very durable.

These underwear are lovely and super stretchy as the material has stretch-blend features, making these easy-to-fit panties that give a flattering slim fit without any restriction of movement.

As these fit perfectly over the waist and the body, you don’t have to worry about them rolling up or down on the waist and legs, and they don’t slide either, so no uncomfortable wedgies during your climb trip while wearing them.

You can wear them under literally anything, and they work so flat under any clothing. You can wear them under your trousers, lowers, leggings or jeans and they are just invisible. This is also because they don’t have any flashy colors available in them.

The fabric that sits next to the skin provides extreme softness. Without any doubt, they are just perfect for hiking and travel, but you can also consider them as your all-day panties and wear them every day as they provide a high level of full-day comfort.

I like the merino wool layers as they provide comfort and make this underwear perfect for dealing with any weather conditions and keeps us warm in cold climates, and as they sit a little low on the waist, they can be worn under low rise wear too.

What we like:

  • Durable
  • Soft fabric
  • Temperature controlling

What we don’t like

  • Not many attractive choices of colors and designs available

Smartwool Women’s PhD Seamlesss Bikini Panty

Smartwool Women's PhD Seamlesss Bikini Panty

These are not the prettiest, but you can call them one of the most comfortable underwear. The waist is of perfect size without being not too broad or narrow, sitting perfectly on the waist and clinging onto the body.

It is quite natural that wool clothing is suitable for dealing with moisture and temperature, giving this underwear a good amount of breathability. The moisture-wicking capabilities are also excellent.

As it keeps sweat and wetness in control, so you won’t be facing any issues like bad odor or soaked feeling in this underwear and these. In addition, the wool fabric is soft on the skiing without causing any itchiness.

Along with these all features, they are also very comfortable, making them suitable for riding, running, hiking, workouts, and you can wear them all day long without any trouble.

The only problem I had with these is that they are not seamless, and the waistband, due to being thick, is even visible through thick pants. Also, under slightly thin, you can easily experience visible panty lines around the legs and back.

What we like:

  • Soft fabric
  • Breathable
  • Moisture-wicking

What we don’t like

  • Not seamless

Adidas Women’s Climacool Cheekster

Adidas Women's Climacool Cheekster

I have worn Adidas shoes many times, but this was my first time trying out underwear from this company, and they turned out to be very nice. The best thing about them is that they are very light in weight and do not feel heavy at all.

As they are lightweight undies, they sit so light on the skin that it almost gives a feel like I am wearing nothing at all down there. In addition, they have a good amount of cover over the back areas as well as the front and legs.

These have excellent moisture-wicking qualities and are super breathable underwear. The mesh fabric does an excellent job of delivering ultimate airflow as I wore them for full days and log jogs, and they helped me give a stay-dry feeling all day long.

The fabric is soft and extremely comfortable and gives an excellent feel to the skin. I like that these underwear are ultra stretchy and clogs on the body, providing a perfect fit, and they don’t roll either, but they ride up sometimes.

They have a double-layer mesh liner, and they are tagless. They are light, but they cause visible panty lines over the waist and legs, making them hard to wear under thin clothes or yoga pants.

What we like:

  • Comfortable
  • Tagless
  • Moisture-wicking
  • Breathable

What we don’t like

  • Ride up
  • Not seamless

Ibex Outdoor, Balance Boy Shorts

Ibex Outdoor, Balance Boy Shorts

This underwear gave a more ‘shorts’ like feel to me than underwear. However, these might be a good option for your hiking trip as they are super comfortable, and they feel incredibly soft after wearing them.

They provide a little compression but not too much, and nice stretchable fabric makes them an easy fit to the body and waist. They hold onto the body well without sliding up or down.

The boy short stays put, but it sometimes rides up over the legs, which causes unwanted folds under the pants. It took me a little while to get used to it, but once you get used to it, you consider wearing them again.

I don’t have to wash them very often as the wool fabric just doesn’t smell much like cotton or synthetic materials, but it takes a longer time to dry out thoroughly.

They sit high on the waist, and as they are pretty stretchy, you can pull them up more. They are invisible around the waist, but the legs have thick seams. If you are not worried about seams, then they can go with any pants.

They have fantastic breathability and are good with moisture dealing properties that help stay dry and fresh through the tiresome journey without worrying about sweat and smell.

What we like:

  • Breathable
  • Stretchable
  • No smell

What we don’t like

  • Ride up over legs
  • Not fully seamless

ExOfficio Women’s Give-N-Go Bikini Briefs

ExOfficio Women's Give-N-Go Bikini Briefs

These breathable mesh bikini bottoms are fantastic. They are great for general use for running and hiking as well as city exploration, travel. I have washed them a few times and dried them several times on medium heat, and there is no sign of fading.

As they are made of quick-dry fabric, it reduces and saves so much of my washing time.  Its fabric dries off quickly and can be worn in a few hours, and a fresh and dry pair of underwear is ready.

The antibacterial treatments reduce odors, so you don’t have to worry about smell or sweat patches with these on. This underwear always gives a fresh feel and that too for a longer time.

The breathable mesh improves airflow and keeps me dry, and they can solve our most concerning issues such as comfort, temperature problems, and moisture-wicking. These can keep you cool on hot days.

I can use them anytime and on any occasion, but they seem a little see-through, so I won’t suggest wearing them on beaches or pools. On the other hand, the waistband stretches to fit and hold its shape, thus enhancing durability, so it is easy to exercise and work out in the theme.

They used the right fabric, but they need to improve the quality of the material to justify the price because it sometimes shrinks after a few washes.

What we like:

  • Good quality fabric
  • Good moisture wicking capacity
  • Easy to dry
  • Comfortable

What we don’t like

  • Elastic shrink sometimes
  • See-through

Boody Body Ecowear Women’s Midi Brief

Boody Body Ecowear Women's Midi Brief

What I like the most about this brief is that it is environmentally friendly as it is mostly made of bamboo. The fabric is very soft, and the pantie is highly comfortable. It really feels and looks good on the body.

You can call them a little high waist, but they don’t pull that high to get exposed but still have good coverage, and they sit right around the waist just below the belly button. So they don’t rub over the skin or cause any pitching or itching.

They hold up to their place quite well without rolling, and there is enough elasticity to these undies that holds them at the right place and avoids sliding or moving. The material quality seemed reasonable, and they fit just fine.

You don’t have to worry about irritating tags, which are also easy to remove. The disappointing part was that the elastic trim around the leg openings starts to fray after a few washes, so you can’t expect these to last very long.

They do keep you dry and help avoid the crotch getting swamped. However, they were pretty tight around the legs causing noticeable seams and looks bulgy and shows a panty line as there is a clear stitched seam on the edges.

What we like:

  • Extremely comfortable
  • Good quality fabric
  • Keeps you dry

What we don’t like

  • Visible panty lines
  • Less durable

Adidas Women’s Climacool Thong Underwear

Adidas Women's Climacool Thong Underwear

These thongs are pretty good, but front stitching was not an attractive part for me, but these undies’ reviews and price convinced me to buy them. So I can say it was not at all a bad experience.

In fact, I had a great experience wearing them as they can draw moisture away from the body. These are good for workouts, jogging, hiking, and long travels as they keep you dry all day even if you had a hard warm day.

They are straightforward and quick to dry after a wash and saves time. They fit just perfectly, holding over the body and clinging to the waist. They might feel a bit lost, but just enough does not feel tight or fall off.

They move well with the body without any restriction. The only problem I faced after trying them out is that they ride up. Sometimes that gets slightly uncomfortable.

Other than the riding-up issues, these undies fit well without causing any rolls or sliding. They feel light on the skin due to their lightweight fabric. I like the double-layer mesh liner and their tagless construction that makes them comfier.

What we like:

  • Easy to dry
  • Tagless
  • Lightweight

What we don’t like

  • Ride up
  • Weird front stitch

ExOfficio Women’s Give-N-Go Sport Mesh Hipskini

ExOfficio Women's Give-N-Go Sport Mesh Hipskini

I have tried other underwear of this brand too, and in my experience, they turned out to be pretty good. Then after coming across this underwear. There weren’t many reviews for them, but I decided to give it a try.

These were definitely worth the try and money. Though there is not much color choice available for them, they are a little brighter but fit well.

I personally don’t like the color, design, and look of the underwear, and there are weird stitches at the front, which kind of gives a less appealing look to the underwear even after wearing it, but as it’s said, don’t judge a book by its cover.

Though they don’t give a good look, the fabric of this underwear is perfect. It feels smooth and soft over the skin and offers an incredibly comfortable experience. Most smooth is the waistband that sits perfectly on the waist.

These are breathable underwear, and they dry quickly after a wash. So you can wear them during your travel and journey.

What we like:

  • Breathable
  • Quick-dry
  • Smooth fabric

What we don’t like

  • Size may vary
  • Less appealing design

Under Armour Women’s Power in Pink, Pure Stretch Hipster

Under Armour Women's Power in Pink, Pure Stretch Hipster

These are nice and cute-looking panties and look good on the body. The logo at the top corner looked like a cute small bow at first glance, but it wasn’t.

The fabric is super soft and lands so softly on the skin, and they are incredibly stretchy as they are made of good stretch material. As they are flexible, they are easy to wear and pull off, but I feel them a little loose.

The fit is a little loose, especially around the legs. However, the loose fit doesn’t affect the moisture-wicking abilities of these undies. They can work well for travel as they do an excellent job of dealing with moisture.

But as they are loose over the legs, they roll up and sometimes give an uncomfortable feel. They also have tagless construction. This is what I like the most about them as tags are irritating to the skin.

I like that they have a soft cotton gusset, and due to the stretchy fabric, it is easy to move in every direction. The laser-cut edges offer a hem-free construction for a smoother and seamless look. They have full back for the perfect amount of coverage.

What we like:

  • Offer a good amount of coverage
  • Stretchy fabric
  • Supersoft
  • Moisture-wicking

What we don’t like

  • Roll up around legs
  • Loose fit

New Balance Women’s Breathe Hipster Panty

Under Armour Women's Power in Pink, Pure Stretch Hipster

I like the availability of multiple colors and designs in them, and I am primarily into black and nude colors as they are easy to hide under any clothes. And they are true to size.

These provide ultimate comfort as the thong is very stretchy, and the waistband also fits perfectly on the waist, providing a perfect fit overall. In addition, they wrapped around the legs without being tight.

These are flexible, and they are put without sliding or rolling with any sort of movement. They are super breathable and have good airflow capacity, making them good at dealing with sweat and moisture.

These panties will eliminate odor and absorb moisture, and this helped keep me fresh throughout the day and kept me cool and dry on hot days. But, unfortunately, I can’t call these durable as they fall apart after a few washes.

I suggest you put them in a cold machine wash with similar colors and do not iron them. The tagless design is pretty good and comfy, and no side seamless eliminates chafing while minimizing panty lines.

What we like:

  • Breathable
  • Very stretchy
  • Seamless
  • Perfect fit

What we don’t like

  • Fall apart
  • Not durable

Buyers Guide for The Best Hiking Underwear For Women

If you’re stuck and confused, then you can go through these guide points which will help you to make a perfect and suitable choice for you:

Important Quantities

Durability

If you plan to spend some money on beautiful mountaineering underwear, you may want to consider its durability for its intended use.

This does not necessarily mean more expensive, although we usually need to pay a little more for quality due to more costly materials and labor. For clothing, durability begins with the fabric. The best brands use high-quality fabrics made from strong yarns.

When it comes to durability, these Icebreaker Women’s Siren Wool Thong Underwear are an excellent suggestion. These hold up well in every wash and will support you in your hard travels.

Wicks Moisture

Choose mountaineering underwear with moisture-wicking properties to keep you dry. This will also help perspiration.

You should avoid cotton underwear and choose breathable underwear made from synthetic materials, such as polyester or merino wool. Unlike cotton, these materials can absorb moisture from the skin and dry quickly.

These Smartwool Women’s PhD Seamless Bikini underwear are very good and have excellent moisture-wicking capabilities. You can always use them for your trek.

Odor Control and Antibacterial Properties

Wool is a good option here as it has reasonable odor control, but if you’re looking for synthetic underwear options for hikes, some products are treated with an antibacterial treatment to help prevent odors.

Flat Seams

Flat seams avoid hot spots along the way. The fewer potential skin irritants you use on the road, the better.

Comfort

Try out label-free waistbands and flat seams. To increase comfort, look for label-free underwear with rough seams. Another essential feature is a flat and comfortable waistband that does not irritate your skin when the backpack is pressed.

Choose the right style

While choosing the right style, consider the comfortable one and snug, but not too snug.

You need a style that is nice on the skin and fitted but not too uncomfortable. Be careful not to loosen your underwear too much, as this will pull the fabric together and rub your skin.

Fabric selection

It is essential to choose the suitable fabric for your underwear as it is the first layer that comes in contact with your skin. You can choose:

Synthetic fiber

Breathable hiking underwear is usually made of synthetic fibers, such as polyester and nylon. You can also see polypropylene, rayon, or mixed fabrics. Some underwear includes spandex to provide a comfortable stretch and a close but not tight fit.

Underwear made of synthetic fibers has various characteristics. First, they are quick to dry as synthetic fibers do an excellent job of absorbing and wicking away sweat, giving you the driest feel of any type of fabric.

They are durable as synthetic fabrics tend to be very durable, making them the most durable option. They also have odor retention as they generally retain odor better than other options.

Some manufacturers add a finish that can inhibit the build-up of odor-causing bacteria, which is very helpful.

Merino Wool

As merino wool is super-soft, ultra-fine, non-itchy, it is an excellent choice for underwear. It is usually blended with other fabrics, such as elastane or nylon, to improve fit, flexibility, and durability. Merino wool underwear has various characteristics, which makes it a good choice.

It is good at absorption, and it can absorb moisture from the skin into the fabric very well. However, some moisture will stay in the core of the wool fiber, making the wool not feel as dry as synthetic fibers, but it will not calm you down.

Compared with synthetic materials, it takes longer to dry when wet. However, it can also cool – when the temperature rises, moisture is released in the core of the merino wool fiber, which can provide a bit of coolness in hot weather.

It can’t be called entirely durable. Still, it can be said to be moderately durable as Continued friction will eventually wear down the merino wool, so you will finally notice the fabric getting thinner in places.

It is odorless as it has a natural resistance to odor-causing bacteria, helping to keep it odor-free even after several days of continuous use. In my experience, no matter what style of underwear you like to wear on the track, it is the best choice for comfort on the track.

You may want to find different options in your favorite style and then do a bit of trial and error. For example, when trying hiking underwear styles, check that they are tight enough not to move and cause friction or drag, but not too tight to make them uncomfortable.

Different Styles

You can go with different styles that can make your hiking experience better and suit you well and comfortably, such as:

The bikini-style provides less back coverage, lower waist, and higher leg cuts. If you already feel comfortable, then this is a good choice. Otherwise, there are some potential panties.

When talking about bikini-style undies, ExOfficio Women’s Give-N-Go Bikini Brief could be a good choice if you want a good bikini choice for your travel experience.

You can try boy Boys’ shorts. Hiking underwear in the style of boys’ shorts provides maximum coverage. For some people, this seems too much on the road. Others may like how this style reduces inner thigh abrasions.

Ibex Outdoor Clothing Merino Wool Balance Boy Short is good boy’s short undies and you can definitely consider them as one of your hiking partners.

Thongs provide minimal coverage, but they are lightweight and dry quickly due to the small amount of fabric. Adidas Women’s Superlite Thong Underwear is a good option under this category.

Underwear can come in several different styles, including fashionable and high-waist underwear. They provide good coverage but are slightly lower than boys’ shorts. Thus, they are a middle ground between bikini style and boy shorts.

Conclusion

I choose Icebreaker Women’s Siren Wool Thong Underwear as the best hiking underwear for women. I came to this decision after trying out different styles and keeping every important point in mind.

These are durable for an extended period and have a very soft fabric which gives a highly comfortable feel after wearing them. The best thing about them is that they keep me dry and deal with sweat quickly, making my hiking experience a lot better.
